The 2008 Celtics Championship team

The 2008 Celtics continued what is the greatest dynasty of all time. Over the years the Celtics have been a dominating franchise. From the 60's to the 70's they were unstoppable. After the 1986 world championship they had a little hick up for 22 years until they won in 2008. It was a slump that was broken by pure talent. The new big three was formed. This consisted of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett. This team came in first place that year and won the championship in style.

These players were acquired by trades. Paul Pierce was already on the team. Ray Allen was acquired by the celtics trading 2 of there players and there first round draft pick in 2007 which was Jeff Green who is actually back on the team now. Kevin Garnett how ever was a totally different story. This was the second biggest trade in NBA history behind the Dwight Howard trade to the Lakers which just happened about 2 months ago. Garnett was traded to the Celtics for five players and 2 draft picks,The Garnett Trade. Why you might ask was he so valuable? The reason why is because he was good and thats it plan and simple.

When the Celtics won is was all smiles for them. Check out this video of the winning Celtics. This was the Celtics winning the title in game 6 vs the LA Lakers. They won by a crazy score of 131-92. It wasn't even close and the Celtics were back on top after this. After 22 seasons with out a ring the Celtics were finally back on top.

This is a picture of the Celtics when they were playing the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs. This Blog explains how the Boston Celtics won the championship. In the playoffs the Celtics beat the Hawks, Cavaliers, Pistons, and then the Lakers for the championship. The blog talks about how when superstars meet up it does not always mean they are going to win. Like in the case of the Miami Heat with there big three they didn't win the first year because they had no team chemistry. The Celtics were different with they help of there beach and the coaching of Doc Rivers they were unstoppable. The blog also talks about how other teams with superstars had success but were not highly watched teams. The reason I picked this blog is because I am a huge Celtics fan and seeing them win in my life time was awesome. Also this blog show how teams can not be successful if they don't work together. The Celtics have a motto and that is Ubuntu, it means together and was established in the 2008 season so the Celtics would play as one. This motto has been used in the organization ever since and the fans support it all the way. Go ahead and check out this link Ubuntu. Also if you are interested you can check out the blog as well Blog on the Big 3. They were the best and are still the best to this day.

Alexander Jolie - 2010 Volvo S40

Today I will be reviewing the 2010 Volvo S40, a mid-range FWD sedan. I am going to be starting with some specifications.

What's New for the 2010 edition:

In 2010, Volvo completely redesigned the exterior, and for the most part, the interior of the S40. As well as improved engine performance, safety features, and fuel economy which I will get more in depth with later.

Interior:
With the 2010 overhaul, Volvo completely re-adjusted the interior of the car to be far more user friendly then the previous generations. Some of the new features include an auxiliary input located on the head-unit so that you can plug an MP3 player into it and listen to music, as well as an optional Bluetooth receiver for hands-free calling. On top of these amazing features, it also has an optional paddle shifted manu-matic transmission which allows the driver to switch the car into a manual mode without having to use a clutch.

As if all of this wasn't enough, the T5 models with the entertainment package also include an impressive twelve speaker surround sound system, and digital touch screen GPS display.

 Performance:

The 2010 T5 version also boasts a 227HP turbo-charged engine @36lb-ft of torque, an increase of 9HP over the baseline 2.4i model. Though the engine may not be incredibly impressive, it does have a respectable 23 combined miles per a gallon

                                                                                             Safety:

Not much has changed in regards to the safety features in the Volvo S40, although they have made the optional anti-lock disc brakes, and traction control a standard feature. They also improved the seat belts to reduce whiplash in the event of an accident. They also added the option to add a blind spot warning system (BLIS) which gives you a view of any blind spots via cameras on the vehicle.

Review:

After my car recently died I was put back in the market for a new vehicle, being as I am a very picky person I've test driven around ten or so different vehicles within the past week, and I can honestly say that the Volvo S40 is one of the smoothest rides out of the cars I've test driven, which includes; 2012 Subaru Impreza, 2006/2007 Saab 9-3, 2005/2006 Infiniti M35x, and a 2011 Mazda 6. Though all of these cars were an amazing drive, they all failed majorly in certain areas where as the Volvo either excelled in them, or was average. The handling on the Volvo is bar none, it turns on a dime and the output from the steering wheel to the driver is exhilarating. The luxury features in the Volvo are also quite nice, out of all the cars only the Infiniti came even close to having as many  interior features as the Volvo, and even then the Volvo's features were still unmatched because of the fact that the Volvo's interior is 5 years newer.
I can honestly say, without any reservation that if you are in the market for a new car that the Volvo S40 is the car to go with.

The iPhone 4 is probably the best thing I have ever bought. I went from loving the Droid and being against iphones to getting the iphone and being addicted to it. There are so many things that are better with an iphone that makes the phone more appealing than others. To start, the retina display is very easy to read. The iphone 4 also has a much better web browsing connection than anything compared to a droid. Like any other upgraded phone, it has a very improved battery life. According to About.com, “The screen uses a denser pixel arrangement- though they have the same size screen, the iPhone 4 is 960 x 480, the 3GS is 480 x 320- to create more-detailed images and texts” (About.com). The screen and camera is so clear looking than any other phone I’ve had. The iphone 4 is glass on both sides with a stainless-steel frame. According to Macworld, “The fit and finish are immaculate; not a single thing about the iphone 4 feels cheap”(Macworld). Another good thing is the iphone 4 has two cameras. One is on the back side and one is on the front screen. The one on the back screen is obviously for taking pictures, but the one on the front screen comes in handy when using FaceTime. FaceTime is an apple product that allows you to communicate to other apple products through video. It is on the same idea as skype. Even the type of software that apple has created comes in handy when using the iphone. Getting apps is nice and fast, and opening and closing them is even faster. The software allows you to organize the apps on your phone by grouping them together so that it takes up less space on your phone’s screen. “You can feel the iphone 4’s speed everywhere you turn. Apps launch in an instant. Switching between apps happens in a blink of an eye. That’s because of the Apple-built A4 processor at the heart of the iphone 4, which combines speed with impressively low power consumption”(Macworld). Overall, the iphone 4 is a better and improved phone that makes it well worth the price and better than any other phone.

Album Review for "Country and Cold Cans"

Being the huge country music fan that I am, I just had to purchase Dierk Bentley's new EP off of Itunes. This EP is entitled Country and Cold Cans and was released on August 21, 2012. It was released only on Itunes so that fans of Dierks could have some new music to listen to in between the release date of his new album. It was written with the intention of giving fans something that they normally wouldn't see on an album while playing up the summer vibe of Dierks recent college tour.

I ABSOLUTELY loved this EP. It really has a laid-back country feel but also has a bit of a party vibe. The first song "Grab a Beer" showcases the lyrical talent of Dierks but also showcases large guitar riffs and a foot-tapping beat.  According to www.tasteofcountry.com, "This song showcases a garage-rock feel which rides a heavy guitar riff that eventually opens up the song". Even though  the song doesn't have a deep meaning it is still a fun song to party too. The second song entitled "Back Porch" is all about having a good time. With it's deep piano melody and strong chorus it is sure to be a #1 radio hit in no time.  This is definitely my favorite song off the EP because his vocal talent is showcased and the overall melody of the song is creative. "Summer on Fire" is the party song of the EP. If this song was released in the summertime it would have had a very successful run on country radio. It is the typical radio hit with it's simple lyrics and big voices. According to a  review done by www.roughstock.com,  this song "fits the raw, personal feel of the EP, as well with Dierks and Johnston showcasing a side that's always been part of Dierks' career" The EP closes with Dierks current #1 single "Tip it on Back". This song is Dierks ode to fun Friday nights and getting lost in the moment. His voice booms big chords and the simple guitar makes the song feel very raw and real.

I would definitely recommend this album to any country music fan as well as to fans of other genres of music. It's a great snapshot of how talented Dierks Bentley really is and how awesome country music sounds! Below is the song Summer on Fire, you know you want to check it out!!

If you would like to see reviews about other artists or reviews on a different album of Dierks' check out pitchfork.com It is a great website with a lot of information on all types of music!

 HP Folio 13

The HP Folio 13 is an ultra-light and ultra-portable laptop. It is the first ultrabook that HP made that is powered by Intel. It is made mostly for a small business, a journalist high school student, or a college student. Being so light it allows you to fit it in your book-bag, while still leaving room for your books and binders or what else you would like to fit in your bag. The keyboard is back lit, so it makes it easy when you want to type at night, but you don’t want to put the lights on to disturb your roommate. It comes installed with GB's of RAM, 128 SSD (solid state drive), and it comes with a Core i5 processor from Intel. It also has one of the longest battery life for any ultrabook The Laptop’s price is relatively cheap starting at $899. Making it affordable for any college student that wants this laptop for your reports.
The bottom of the laptop is plastic, but it has a nice slick feeling. It works well for it. There are two vents on the bottom of the laptop and one at the end. The top of the laptop is made out of aluminum. The speakers are Dolby Advanced Audio. It can get pretty loud and that is rare for some laptops. Since it is an ultrabook, it lacks some ports that you see in other laptops. But since it is built a little bigger than other ultrabooks, it is built with an SD slot, 2 USB ports, an Ethernet port, and a HDMI port. The keyboard is very comfortable, the buttons don’t get stuck and it makes it very easy to type. The mouse pad doesn’t respond well when you click it, it is ruff and takes a while to get used to. This laptop is also not meant for gaming.
In a “prizefight” run by CNET the HP Folio was put against the Dell XPS 13 although it lost in design. The HP Folio 13 blew the Dell XPS 13 out the window by toping it in speed, battery life, extra ports, and price.

Here are some pros and cons

PROS                                                 CONS
Long Battery life                           Mouse pad takes time to get used to
Comfortable keyboard                   Not a flashy Design
Backlit keyboard                            Only has 128 GB SSD
Loud speakers                                Can’t run video games well
Slick business look                        Screen is glossed and can create a glare
Very Slim
Core i5 Processor
Very affordable

I currently own an HP Folio 13 and I can personally say that it was worth every penny. I never have a problem with it and I would recommend it for anyone.

Kayla Chandler

Post [1]
Kayla Chandler
September 5, 2012

My name is Kayla Chandler, and I live in Methuen Massachusetts. My grade level all throughout high school was mostly C's and D's. I did not do very well in high school, but I am willing to put all my effort into my four years in college. As for my major, and what I would like to do with my life I am uncertain. I need to take time to figure out what I want to do for a job my whole life. As a freshman I am not very concerned to find out my major. I have been a cheerleader since I was in seventh grade, and I was captain my senior year of high school. I continue to cheer for Nichols college and hopefully get captain my senior year at Nichols College.

This video is my cheerleading team when I was a freshman, we won states with this routine.
I'm am very thankful to be apart of such a wonderful and talented team.

From this course I would like to gain more experiance with computers. Also I would like to learn more about video and audio, on a computer. I'm usually very good at putting videos onto computers, and adding effects as well as giving music to the video, or adding sentences into the video. I enjoy doing tasks like this, when I was in high school, I would make sure I did all the work just because I knew I could do it very well. I hope with this class I can learn more about what I like to do.

The blog that I chose was on my uncle Shaun Toohey, he was trying to be senate of Haverhill. I chose this blog because I think it is awesome that my uncles doing this. My family and I all have gotten out his word and really hope that he wins the race. Shaun is a strong willing man that will do anything he can to win this.

Rondo is worth the Green!

Hello, my name is Robbie Van Nort and I am a huge Celtic Fan.After reading a blog post about Celtic’s point gaurd, Rajon Rondo, that caught my eye on celticsblog.com I began to really agree with what the author had to say on the importance of his contract with the Boston Celtics.  Most people like John Hollinger who is a statistics person at ESPN believe he is overpaid and not worth the money.  Which I think those people are all stupid because ever since Rondo was drafted in the 06-07 season by the Boston Celtics he has been a big contributor to the team’s success even though it may not be from beyond the three point line. In my opinion if your starting oint guard can provide an average of six triple-doubles a season then he is one of the elite players in the league.  In addition to his amazing career stats, Rondo was the first Celtic point guard to win a Championship for the Celtics in over a decade. Even though Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen join the team the same season they won the championship, the former starting point guard Delonte West would not have been able to do it because he did not have the younger edge on the competition that Rondo brings to the table. Being under thirty years of age and having already developed most of his skills on the court means that Rajon Rondo can only keep bringing the Celtics more and more championships and prestige. Sure more young point gaurds will enter the league, but Rondo’s speed, agility, intelligence in breaking down an entire defense, and his ability to get the ball to any player on the court will never diminish in wfficiency. Another way Rondo is more qualified to be the superstar that  he has become is that with more experience playing against the next generation of ball players he will be virtually unstoppable and will enstill fear in the defense when the ball is in his hands. If you don’t believe me, the hit television show “sports science” did an entire piece on Rajon Rondo’s ability as a point guard.  The program went into such detail as to comment and analyze how his performance is enhanced by his abnormally large hands.
Hello Everyone!

My name is Mackenzie Scheer, i am from Milford, MA. I am a freshman here at Nichols College. I live in Shamie, with my two best friends! I am undecided for what id like to major in. I've cheered for all my life, about 14 years. I work as a cashier at Stop & Shop in my hometown. I have been there 3 years in may. I have an older sister, 21 years of age, she too works with me at stop and shop! I currently just applied for a on campus job as a Nichols Fund caller.

I would really like to learn everything there is to know about Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft. I feel that having the knowledge of these would be very beneficial to my major and my future. I am really looking forward to having this class. Having this knowledge would even possibly help me with my future, with getting a job. It's crucial to have computer skills.

I found this article about how cheerleading IS a sport, by New York Times. I picked this article because everyone always says cheerleading isn't a sport, when it actually is. It was just named a sport, finally!

Marc Murphy Blog #1

Hi, my name is Marc Murphy and I’m a freshman living in Shamie.  I’m from Suffield, Ct, which is roughly 30 minutes north of Hartford, Ct. I’m currently undecided with my major, though I may go along the line with business, possibly accounting.  I will also be playing lacrosse at Nichols in the spring.  I have been playing lacrosse for a long time and I enjoy the competitive aspect of the sport.  I don’t have that many exciting hobbies but some of them are playing lacrosse with friends, cooking, golfing, swimming and diving.  I was a swimmer and diver in high school and I really enjoyed the sport.  So when there is an opportunity to either swim or dive, I will take it.

I’m not sure what to expect from this course but hopefully I gain more knowledge about computers and expand my computer skills.  Also just to learn as much as I can about computer software.  Since technology is growing and becoming more popular, I would like to stay up to date with everything.  I would say that I am decent with computers but I would like to be prepared when I need to set up programs and etc in the business world.

The blog that I came across that interested me was about Casey Powell retiring from the MLL (Major League Lacrosse).  He was an icon and many lacrosse players looked up to him including myself.  He was the all-time leading goal scorer in the MLL and NLL.  That is very impressive.  Anyways, I remember watching Casey play on the TV and thought that he will never retire.  So when I came across this blog, I was shocked.  Casey played at Syracuse University before going pro as well as his two other brothers.  Even though all of his brothers are great lacrosse players, I may have to give Casey the slight edge over Ryan and Mike.  If anyone wants to read more about Casey Powell or more blogs about lacrosse, check out this site. www.laxmagazine.com

Blog #1

Hey everyone!

My name is Stevie and i'm from Dudley, right down the road from Nichols. I went to Shepherd Hill Regional Highschool and I played soccer, tennis and also ran track for a few seasons. I love being busy and playing sports. I even tried hurdling during one track season and I was actually good at it so I stayed with it for a little!

I was also on the schools Student Council for 4 years, i loved it. Right now I am currently a waitress at Masonic Home in Charlton and in November it will be my 2nd year there. I enjoy working as a waitress but my favorite job that i've had was working in retail. I worked at Eblens Clothing & Footwear for almost a year before it went out of business, it was fun because I love clothes. This is my first semester here at Nichols. I'm a transfer junior but because of the credits that I lost due to my major change I am considered a sophomore. I transferred to Nichols from UMass Amherst. It is a great school and I loved it there but I felt that Nichols was a better choice for me to pursue a business career. My major is Business Communications and so far I love it.

Although I don't play on teams anymore I still love playing sports and staying active. My other hobbies include hanging out with my friends & spending time with my boyfriend. I love shopping and listening to music and basically whatever else is a fun time. I definitely am a beach baby and I love going to the beach and tanning in the summertime. This summer I spent a lot of time fishing & canoeing with my friends, it was a new hobby that we picked up and we got really good at it!

From this course I am not really sure what to expect from it but I do hope to learn more about computer software. I also hope to learn more about Microsoft because it seems to be getting more popular and I am not fully aware on how to work the system. I'm good with computers and technology but i'm not so good with softwares and programs and things like that. I hope to be better prepared for the business world and whatever it entails.
The blog that I found interesting was a blog about college fashion. I love clothes and new styles and new trends that are happening. This blog talks about different ideas for college fashion and also about what is in style now a days. The blog gives links to its "fabulous finds" and gives you some ideas on where you can find the items that they blog about. I find the blog interesting because I am a shop-o-holic and i'm always interested in finding clothes for lower prices. The cheaper the better! I think this blog is credible because it gives you ideas for trendy outfits and where to shop for them. It's always a plus getting some inspiration for a cute outfit! You can find this blog at http://www.collegefashion.net/. I wasn't specifically looking to find a blog like this but i'm excited that I found it because I will definitely be checking new things out on it!

Juan Fernandez

Hello my name is Juan Fernandez and I am a sophomore  at Nichols College. I currently live in Rem room 301, and I am an accounting major. I lived in Salem MA almost my whole life until I moved to Norwood Ma, where I attended Norwood High school. Throughout my high school career I played 4 years of basketball as a point guard. While living in Norwood, I worked at a couple different places. I worked at Papa Gino’s, I was a cook and made subs. I also worked at the Norwood Civic Center, which is pretty much like a YMCA but smaller. At the Civic center I just make sure that kids are not fighting and that the place is a safe environment for everyone that uses the facility. The last job I worked at was a Jr. Play camp, I was a camp counselor, I played games with 5 & 6 year olds. For hobbies I like to play basketball, football, I like to swim, and also I love watching movies. My Favorite Movie is Cop Out, and 21 Jump Street. From this class I want to learn how to Blog efficiently. I want to learn how to blog because it’s something new, something I have never done, and I also feel like this could really help me in my future. As My newsworthy Blog I chose one that talks about my favorite basketball player, Kobe Bryant. The Blog talks about how and when Kobe surpasses Michael Jordan in all-time scoring in all-star game history. I believe that this blog is very credible because I watched that specific game and details what and how he scored to surpass Jordan. I like this blog because it talks about my favorite basketball player and how he achieved a great milestone.

Darrin Melendy - Post #1

Hello, my name is Darrin Melendy and I am a freshman at Nichol's College.  I currently live in Shamie and am planning on majoring in general business.  I am from Tolland Connecticut, a really small town where nothing ever happens.  I have worked part time as a lifeguard at my town's beach for the past three years.  I also run a small lawn mowing business over the summer.  Currently I am studying to become a general business major but, that may change in time.  I have only a few hobbies the first of which is that I enjoy to swim.  Swim competively not like swimming around a pond with a few friends although that is fun.  I have swam competively for the past ten years and have loved every second of it.  I swam for the University Aquatic Club (http://www.uac-ct.org/) based out of Storrs, Connecticut and for my high school's team.  My other hobbies beyond that are less exciting and include reading and hiking.

There are several things I hope to get from this course. The first is that I am not very technology friendly and I hope this course will help me expand my knowledge of computers and allow to do more without asking for help every couple of seconds. I also hope that by doing this course that I will discover things that are on the web that I never knew where there such as blogs for what seems to be every subject out there.

Speaking of blogs the one that I choose to write on is called Mugglenet (http://www.mugglenet.com/). Yes this blog is about harry potter because i absolutely loved the books and the movies and the rest of the blogs I was searching through were of no interest to me. It tells little facts about the books and gives behind the scenes clips from the movies. Also it gives articles on where the cast are up to and any new news to occur in the harry potter books like opening of the new parks. It also tells about any new books the author may have published and of any books like harry potter that will be of interest to people.

Pat McStravock 1st Blog

Sebastien Chabal breaking tackles

Hey there, My name is Patrick McStravock. I'm a freshmen here at Nichols and living in Shamie and so far I'm planning on majoring in Human Resources. I have lots to hobbies including rugby (http://www.therugbyblog.co.uk) I'm the scrum-half for the Nichols Rugby  Club.  I've been playing rugby for three years, playing for both Mystic River in Malden Massachusetts for their under nineteen squad.  Also played for the Amoskeag mens and old boys squads in Manchester New Hampshire.  In the picture to the right is my favorite player Sebastien Chabal, he was the eight man for the Racing Metro in Paris France and he also plays for France's international squad.  In addition to Rugby I enjoy longboarding, being from New Hampshire there are a lot of hills and its easy to get around by riding your longboard.  Personally my favorite longboarder is Kody Noble. He has a similar riding style to me as you'll see in the video. Here he's clearly shredding downtown San Francisco's signature hills.  In my spear time I manage a football team.  We're doing pretty good this season, we won our first game this Sunday. It's my first season managing in the fantasy league, but the team looks promising.(www.nfl.com/fantasyfootball)

Tyler LeBlanc

Hello everyone,

My name is Tyler LeBlanc and I am a incoming sophomore here at Nichols College. I am from Charlton Massachusetts and I commute to school. This is my second semester here at Nichols College. My first semester of freshman year i attended Endicott College. I am majoring in General Business with a focus in Sport Management. I am currently employed at the Auburn Home Depot as a lumber associate. I have a wonderful girlfriend named Gaby and we have a dog together named Princess. My hobbies include football, baseball, snowboarding and hanging out with friends and family. This year i've decided to take a year off of football. Last season at Endicott we won the NCAC Bowl over Mount Ida College. Family is very important to me. Ive decided to commute to school because being away from such a close family is very tuff. Nichols being a great business school will help me prepare for my future as an athletic director and the future owner of LeBlanc Oil.
In this coarse i hope to gain knowledge about how to create and manage a website for my family owned Oil Company, LeBlanc Oil.  My father founding the company in 2006 and it is the leading distributor in Central Ma. We provide superior customer service along with the cheapest oil rates in the area. One day i hope to take over the company and expand to his great work. In todays society digital communication is very important. Also i would like to be able to learn more about Microsoft Word and Excel to help me out with school projects and the work field.
The blog i've decided to talk about was found under google blogs. Late in the first quarter, Robert Griffin III or RG3 threw a 88 yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon on the Redskins opening day. Robert Griffin III is a rookie starter and last years Hiesman trophy winner. RG3 is suppose to be one of the best rookies in the league. Ive chosen this article because football has been apart of my life forever. Everyone in my family has enjoyed football for years. I love hearing talk about rookie starters. They need to make a name for there self in the NFL because it is a faster and harder played game than College Football.

Doug Levine Blogger

Hi my name is Douglas Levine. I prefer to be called Doug or Dougie Fresh. I am from Marblehead, MA. It is right near the water by Salem, MA. I am a freshman here at Nichols college. I play soccer on the team and I am the goalie. I have been playing goalie my whole life and I have always loved it. The mens soccer team here at Nichols is a brotherhood, I have never felt closer with a team like this before.

I am also into many other activities, even though soccer is my favorite sport I also like basketball, baseball, etc. My favorite sports team is the Boston Celtics. My favorite player on that team would have to be Kevin Garnett because he has the determination to win and that is what I'm all about. I hate to lose and I always play hard and never give up when it comes to playing sports.

I have worked at several different places. My first job was at Grossmans deli. I was a dishwasher. My next few jobs I was a busboy and I liked that a lot more. My last job I worked at the Landing in Marblehead. It is one of the best restaurants around the north shore. It was shown on the phantom gourmet. The landing.

I hope to learn many things about how to find things on the computer more efficiently. I also would like to learn how to set up blogs in an orderly fashion. I want this class to teach me as much as there is to know computer software. I also hope to have a fun and learning experience. I am very excited to see what this class has to offer. The teacher seems great and I know the class will be great to.

The blog that I chose was about Linoel Messi and Argentina taking down Paraguay in the world cup qualifiers. Linoel Messi is my favorite soccer player in the world. This game put Argentina in the lead in the Conmebol zone. They now lead with 13 points only to lead Chile by one point. This is an important blog because the world cup is played every 4 years and countries all around the world fight for a spot to be selected to play. Every game counts even in the qualifying staging. Soccer has been in my life since I was four years old so when ever I see something about soccer I always want to look more into it. This video will show more about what happened in the game. Messi takes over

Hello, my name is Madison Catarius. I am from Wareham, Massachusetts. I tell people that I am from Cape Cod but Wareham is before the bridge to Cape Cod. No one usually knows where Wareham is but there have been movies that have been filmed there. Wareham is a beach town and it is the worst when all the tourists come for the summer. I live really close to the beach. I can walk there in like five minutes. I went to the local high school. Wareham can be pretty boring but you need to make your own fun. During the summer you would go to baseball games or go to the beach. I used to work at concession stands for the Cape Cod Baseball League and I also worked as a referee for soccer. I have never had a major job because I have always been really young.
I am a freshman at Nichols College and I am studying Sport Management. I play soccer at Nichols. My position is forward or midfield. I played soccer since I was five years old and I have loved it ever since. I played soccer for my town team, a Mass premier team, a district select team, a high school team, and multiple indoor teams. When I was younger I used to play softball, I played it for three seasons and I enjoyed it but I loved soccer more. If I am not playing soccer I would be doing homework or hanging out with my friends. Other hobbies I enjoy is going to the beach and listening to music. My favorite band is Owl City but I like most kinds of music.

I found this blog about soccer. It is amazing. It talks about women's soccer. Women's soccer has had a downfall because of the WPS and with the Olympics it has become bigger especially with the USA winning gold. It all talks about that and how big it has grown the past two years because of the World Cup and Olympics. It also talks about how it will go into the shadows until the next Olympics or World Cup. It was huge for the die hard fans to see how much it has grown and how it has also taken a few twist and turns. If you hear the name Alex Morgan or Abby Wambach everyone is going to know who they are. But what about Megan Rapinoe or Carli Lloyd or Tobin Heath. Has anyone heard of them? Maybe because of the Olympics you have. I want women's soccer to be bigger and I have a feeling it will be soon.

Hi my name is Corey Michaud I work at Madison Flower Shop and carry bags of mulch and sell overpriced plants to old ladies. Throughout my highschool experience I had alot of trouble with math but enjoyed writing and history. I have a second degree blackbelt in Tae-Kwon-Do and have been in the mixed martial arts game for over 15 years. I hope to learn more about technology and how it can help me throughout college.

Furthermore, I am majoring in Hospitality Management, and I plan on becoming an event director at a casino, such as Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods.  My cousin Seth is in this class, and him and I plan to live out our days becoming the best people in our respected fields.  The reason why I intend to go into the field of Hospitality Management is because when I came to Nichols for my orientation, I spoke with Bryant Richards.  He told me all about his experiences, and this truly inspires my personal drive to become the best Hospitality major I can.  I have a strong vocal voice, and I am just looking to make it more effective in my presentations.

I actually had my first Hospitality class on Tuesday, and I walked away knowing this was meant for me.  This year in this class, I intend to become a stronger public speaker, making more convincing presentations.  I don't have many other goals because this is a goal that will take a lot of effort.

One thing in life that I have learned is that when you want to get something, you have to work you tail off just to make it happen.  Martial arts is a passion of mine, where I had to work extremely hard to develop my skills, in which helped me get to the junior olympics and win gold in my weightless rank, and division.

Back in Madison, Connecticut, I worked all summer, and I truly know what the working life feels like. I am not too phased by all this workload and studying because I know I can handle it.

Thank you so much and I look forward to the class.

Hello, my name is Kathleen Ledbetter but I prefer to be called Kate. I am from Norton Massachusetts, it's a very small town that not many people know about but it is near Mansfield Massachusetts, Attleboro Massachusetts and Easton Massachusetts. I have had a few different jobs, starting with working at a pizza place called Pizza Thyme, then I worked as a waitress at a nursing home in my town in the assisted living quarters, and my last job was at Justice for girls, I also worked at a soccer camp in my town that my neighbor runs during the summer. I am a freshman at Nichols College, so far I have really enjoyed it and hopefully that will continue and I'm sure it will especially with the roommates I have, Anjali and Alexa.

I also play for the women's soccer team here and have made friends on the team. I have played soccer since I was little and all through high school where I was also the team captain my senior year. When I was ten years old my travel town team won the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions which was a really big deal, we were even put on T.V for it. It was very exciting for our team and that memory always reminds me why I love to play so much. I have not decided what I want to major in yet and I honestly have absolutely no idea what is it that I want to do which is scary but hopefully I will figure it out soon. I don't necessarily have any hobbies but I do love the Boston Red Sox. My dad has season tickets and being in Fenway is one of my favorite things in the world, I love the city and I love the atmosphere that comes with the game and the fans.

From taking this course I hope to gain more knowledge about computers and the different ways I can use the internet for personal things like having my own blog and being able to even make a website for something. I think it would be really helpful and cool to be able to have that skill.

The blog that I found really interesting was a blog about college. As a freshman I don't know exactly how it's going to be and this blog gives students tips on things from how to be "green" to how to deal with stress. I think this blog can help a lot of students to give them advice and help them along the way. I found the blog interesting because I of course have questions about how the next four years of my life are going to be and how to adjust to it as a freshman. Any student can appreciate a little help and this blog has a lot of help to offer.

Mitchel Palazzi

Hello, my name is Mitchel Palazzi. I am from a Small town in Massachusetts called Rehoboth. It is a quaint little farming community near the cape. In high school, I was an avid track runner in the 110 meter hurdles, the 200 meter dash, and the long jump. Over the past two years, I have held a variety of different jobs. I worked in the Providence Place Mall at Hollister, I worked on hot summer days as a landscaper, and up until recently, I worked as a pizza delivery driver. The diversity in my work experiences has taught me an assortment of different, but useful skills. I am a freshman here at Nichols college and although I am currently a marketing major, I intend to switch it to Pre-Law. Some of my hobbies include playing the guitar, playing basketball, long boarding, and rollerblading. By taking this course, I plan on gaining more knowledge on all of the Microsoft programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Learning more about these programs would be extremely beneficial to me as a college student because they play such a huge role in the academic world today. I also hope to obtain the skills to create my own website, because again, as a college student, this type of skill would be very beneficial. The blog I am choosing to talk about is about Rugby.

I chose this because i currently am a member of the Nichols College Rugby team. Even though I am still learning the sport and all of the pain that can be associated with it, I am growing to love it very much. The sport of Rugby seems to catch a very bad rep for its "violent nature" and its "lack of protection". Although these assumptions can be true, the sport requires proper technique and execution to limit the occurrence of injuries. The videos below are great tools that help to explain how to play the sport, and the proper technique needed to safely play it. The article that I chose (which is linked above in the word "Rugby") talks about the leadership that is exemplified through a well know professional Rugby player named  Fernandez Lobbe. This article talks about his rise to greatness in the sport of rugby. He is currently the captain for his team in Argentina, but it wasn't always that way. Growing up in a household that was always passionate for the sport, he had rugby in his blood, but he admits that he wasn't always "very good". At the age of 25, he was coming out of college, and watching his brothers succeed in the sport made him want to pursue a full time career in it. He practiced, and finally became good enough to go pro. He is now a huge asset to his team and will do anything to help it, whether it is on or off the field. I found this article interesting because leadership is character trait that we should all strive for. This is a credible article because it is written by a well-known journalist for the New Zealand Herold.

Christian Gil

Hello, my name is Christian Gil. I'm 17 years old from East Rutherford, New Jersey. If you don’t know where that is its the same town where MetLife Stadium is located at where both the New York Giants and Jets play there football games. I am currently a freshman and my intended major is Sport Management and also minor in Marketing. I have both a brother and a sister. My sister is older then me and attends Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. and is studying American Sign Language. My brother is younger then me and is a senior in high school and wants to join to military right out of high school. While in high school I played both football and baseball, but at the current time I am retired from college sports, but I could pull a Brett Farve and come out of retirement one day.
I have worked three jobs since I've turned sixteen. My first job was a sales associate at the store LIDS. My second job was working in my high school as summer help with the custodian. My third and final job so far was being a pizza delivery boy for Papa John's and that was by far the worst job that I have had so far. The pay was horrible and most customers gave horrible or no tips. Also my boss would take money out of my paycheck.
Some of my hobbies are collecting sports memorabilia, playing video games (only sports video games because I'm horrible at first person shooter games), going to sports events, and hanging out with my friends. My favorite sports teams are the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox (crazy I know since I’m from the New York area), Miami Hurricanes, and New York Knicks.
During Digital Applications I hope to learn how to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook better then I know how to use now. While in high school I had to take a Microsoft Office class and I did well in the class but I want to become perfect in using Microsoft Office. I'm sure with a Sport Management and Marketing Degree you would need to know how to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel and also a blogger too exceptionally well to earn a job in your field of study.

http://www.bigblueview.com - This blog interested me because I am a New York Giants fan and it helped me stay up to date with my sports while being far away from home living in Massachusetts. It is extremely credible because it is linked to the official New York Giants website also.
