The Red Sox

The last time the Red Sox won the World Series was in 2007 and before that in 2004. Before 2004 the Red Sox had not won a World Series since 1918 which was known as a curse. The "Curse of the Bambino" which was believed to be present because two years after winning the World Series in 1918 the Red Sex traded Babe Ruth to their rival, the New York Yankees. The curse lasted 86 years until they won the championship in 2004. The Red Sox carry a lot history within them that is felt throughout their stadium. Fenway Park has been the Red Sox's home stadium since 1912 and it has seen a lot of great things over the years. Some of the best baseball players to ever live were part of the Red Sox and Fenway at one point, Babe Ruth as one of them followed by Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Cy Young, and some more recent ones, Manny Ramirez, Nomar Garciaparra, and David Ortiz.

Being in Fenway Park is like nothing else, it is one of the most perfect places to be, the atmosphere is awesome and no matter what, the Red Sox are my favorite. During the 2004 series a lot happened for the Red Sox, they were able to get Curt Schilling but they also traded Nomar which was strange but he was getting hurt often so they traded him for Matt Murton. The Red Sox also came up with Doug Mientkiewicz, Orlando Cabrera, and Dave Roberts. After the continuous trades they ended up winning 22 out of 25 games and qualified for the playoffs as the AL (American league) Wild Card. They then advanced to a rematch in the ALCS (American league championship series) against the Yankees. With injured Curt Schilling the Red Sox lost game 1, then after that they lost game 2. Game 3 was the worst one yet, the Red Sox lost 19 to 8 at home, after that everyone thought it was over for them. Game 4 was a close one but the Red Sox pulled it off, same with game 5 after a 14 inning game. The Red Sox came back and moved on to World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals where they won four games in a row and broke the curse for the first time in 86 years.

There's other Red Sox blogs that I read to get the idea of doing mine on them that I found really interesting that I would want to share so if there is more you want to know go for it! This blog offers many different Red Sox stories and information along with other teams in the MLB, look through it I'm sure you will find something interesting just as I did.
