Eating Healthy

We are all in college and most of us want to eat healthy or try to eat healthy. These tips will help everyone stay healthy in college. The website had the nine tips down below.
  1. Eat a good breakfast- Studies show that skipping breakfast detracts from scholastic achievement. When there isn't time to sit down and enjoy your morning meal, grab a bagel, piece of fruit, and some juice.
  2. If you must eat fast foods, choose wisely- Choose pizza with half the cheese, a regular size roast beef sandwich, baked potato, or green salad with reduced calorie dressing. Limit yourself to McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFC.
  3. Keep healthy snacks on hand- Possibilities include fresh or dried fruit, pretzels, unbuttered popcorn, rice cakes, or whole wheat crackers. If you have a refrigerator, consider raw vegetables with low-fat yogurt or cottage cheese dip. Enjoy the healthy snacks and don’t go all health freak on people.
  4. Eat plenty of foods rich in calcium- People in their early twenties need to be building up stores of calcium in their bodies to prevent osteoporosis later in life. Have some yogurt for breakfast or milk and cereal. Always be sure to have some sort of calcium in your food.
  5. If you need to lose weight, do it sensibly- Starvation or diets that offer a quick fix usually backfire and are harmful. The only safe way to lose weight, feel good while doing it, and keep it off is to eat a balanced diet and exercise.
  6. Limit your sugar intake- Use sugar sparingly and consider sweetening coffee, tea, cereal, and fruit with diet sweeteners instead.
  7. Visit the dining hall salad bar- Leafy greens, raw vegetables, and fresh fruits are beneficial. Try to stay away from creamy dressings because those calories will add up. Also don’t put a lot of dressing on it. One tip is to take a little bowl of dressing and dip your fork in there for every bite. It saves you from having a piece of lettuce drenched in dressing. Choose wisely.
  8. Enjoy your food- Food can be quite delicious. Take your time and enjoy your food. It might not be the best but you can enjoy it.
  9. Drink lots of water- Staying hydrated is not an easy thing to do but it is a way to stay healthy. Always keep a water bottle with you and you will definitely drink it. Staying hydrated will keep you alert and healthy.
These tips will help any college student stay healthy. Just remember that you can enjoy some junk food once in a while. Enjoy yourself while eating healthy and it can really help.

  1. Madison,
this blog is very helpful especially since we are all college students struggling to stay healthy and avoid the freshman 15. I have always heard that breakfast is the most important meal but usually i find myself not having enough time to eat it. I should probably start finding time because I know I will be so much healthier if I am able to do that. I tend to eat a lot of junk food which is probably my worst eating habit. I know that it is not good for me but it just tastes so good that i cannot avoid it. I do drink a lot of water and I eat a lot of fruit so that is something that I am good at. I think by reading this blog I will be able to have better eating habits and stay healthier.
